Anthropic launches Claude Opus 5 — near‑Fable performance at Opus price

Anthropic has launched Claude Opus 5, a new flagship large language model available today that the company says delivers substantially better capability and cost-efficiency than the prior Opus generation. The model is positioned as the new default on Claude Max and the strongest option on Claude Pro, and Anthropic has opened API access with the same public token pricing as Opus 4.8.
